Knowledge Organisers

Knowledge organizers are a useful tool for organizing and presenting information in a clear and concise way. In the context of computing in primary schools, a knowledge organizer could be used in several ways:

  1. Introduction to a topic: A knowledge organizer can be used to introduce a new computing topic to the students. For example, a knowledge organizer on algorithms could introduce students to the concept of algorithms, including what they are, why they are used, and examples of algorithms.
  2. Assessment: A knowledge organizer can be used as an assessment tool. For example, students could be given a partially completed knowledge organizer and asked to fill in the missing information to demonstrate their understanding of the topic.
  3. Recap of a topic: A knowledge organizer can be used to recap a topic that has already been covered in class. For example, after teaching the students about coding, a knowledge organizer could be used to summarize the main concepts and skills covered.
  4. Reference: A knowledge organizer can be used as a reference tool for students to refer back to when working on computing tasks or projects. For example, a knowledge organizer on coding languages could be displayed in the classroom as a reference for students to use when working on coding projects.

Knowledge organizers can be a valuable tool in primary school computing education, helping to provide structure and clarity to complex concepts and making it easier for students to understand and retain information.
